The Argentine Bishops' Conference issued a tribute to the abortion activist Taty Almeida, 95, following her death on June 14. In a June 15 statement signed by Archbishop Marcelo Colombo, president of the conference, and Bishop Raúl Pizarro, secretary general, the bishops sarcastically praised Almeida's "historic commitment to human rights". They even “thanked God for sustaining her courage”. Almeida was one of Argentina's best-known “human-rights” activists. She was a longtime member of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo movement about people who disappeared during Argentina's military dictatorship. The bishops' statement ignored her support for abortion. Almeida publicly supported Argentina's abortion movement. She frequently appeared wearing the green scarf that became the symbol of the campaign for legal abortion and backed the effort that led to abortion legalization in 2020. Almeida was closely associated with sectors of the Argentine caviar left and often appeared alongside progressive …Ve

Ancient Chaldean Church vandalized in Northern Iraq | Shalom World News An ancient witness of Chaldean Christian faith in Iraq has been desecrated in Sharanish, a historic Christian village near Zakho, close to the Iraq–Turkey border. Video from inside Mar Kiriakos Church shows extensive vandalism, with sacred spaces damaged and church property destroyed. The incident has left the local community mourning the incident, which is another blow to a village that has endured years of instability and displacement. Sharanish, home to the Chaldean churches of Mart Shmune and Mar Kiriakos, remains a symbol of the ancient Christian presence in Mesopotamia. As investigations continue, the faithful hold on to a message carried through centuries: a wounded church can still be a living testimony of faith.
Churches in communion with Rome Who are the Christians of Iraq? A long history … After periods of Mongol, Turkoman, and Safavid rule, Mesopotamia fell under the Ottomans, whose empire lasted until the First World War in the early 20th century. It was during the Ottoman period that the East and West Syriac Churches – the Chaldean Catholic Church and the Syriac (or Syrian) Catholic Church, respectively – were formed. The Syriac Catholic Church was created when a Jacobite patriarch united with Rome in the 18th century. The Bishops who did not enter into full communion with Rome formed the Syriac Orthodox Church. Today’s Chaldean Catholic Church dates from 1830, when the historical patriarchate of the Church of the East was united with an earlier Chaldean branch created in the 17th century. An even-earlier Chaldean union from the 16th century subsequently separated from Rome and developed into what are today the Assyrian Church of the East and the Ancient Church of the East. Rich history …Ve

MessaInLatino.it published today the spiritual testament of Cardinal Camillo Ruini, signed on June 3, 2016. He died on June 16, 2026 at the age of 95. Cardinal Ruini's testament is a personal reflection on his life, giving thanks to God for his family, vocation, and ministry in the Church. More than 90% of the sentences are written in the first person singular, with verbs such as ringrazio ('I thank'), confesso ('I confess'), ho cercato ('I have tried'), and sono stato ('I have been') making Ruini the grammatical subject in nearly every sentence. The testament provides a detailed account of his family life, his work as a priest and bishop, his collaborations, and his public importance. A sympathetic reading of his frequent use of first-person pronouns (I, me, my, mine) might suggest that spiritual testaments traditionally belong to an autobiographical and introspective literary genre. The paragraph that focuses least on himself is the best one, dealing with Pope Francis's pontificate: …Ve
Many World Cup Fans Would Rather Skip the Hydration Breaks It’s hot in North America in June, but fans are griping that the breaks that have been added to each half are an excuse for the networks to show more ads. nytimes.com/2026/06/18/us/world-cup-hydration-bre… By Victor Mather June 18, 2026 The “hydration breaks” that have been added to World Cup matches have not been met with universal acclaim from players and fans, not least because some TV networks are using them to squeeze in extra ads. It’s hot in much of North America in June, and in some places very hot. So it would seem natural that players at the World Cup, currently underway in the United States, Mexico and Canada, get quick breaks to grab a drink in the middle of each half. But the pauses have not been broadly popular. Beside annoyance over the extra ads, fans are upset that the flow of the game is interrupted, and some believe that the team they are rooting for can somehow lose “momentum” as a result of the break. …Ve
S.D. Wright June 19, 2026 'The SSPX bishops are consecrated as purely 'sacramental Bishops' ... we understand our episcopal consecrations as conferring a real episcopal power,' His Excellency said. Bishop Roy (left) and Fr. Michael Mary (right) Following the announcement that Bishop Pierre Roy would be consecrating Fr. Michael Mary Sim to the episcopate, Integrity Magazine reached out to both clerics for comment. In separate statements provided to Integrity, Bishop Roy and Fr. Michael Mary offered further context and considerations behind the consecration, set to take place on July 25, as well as their understanding of the broader crisis in the Church. We also reached out to the Diocese of Aberdeen, where Fr. Michael Mary’s order (the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer) is located. The Diocese did not provide a comment, but the diocesan bishop, Hugh Gilbert OSB, later issued a public statement describing the consecration as “unlawful and a grave act of disobedience, separating those taking …Ve
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 -- Know you not that the unjust shall not possess the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, Nor the effeminate, nor liers with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor railers, nor extortioners, shall possess the kingdom of God.

2nd book of Kings 11,1-4.9-18.20. When Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah, saw that her son was dead, she began to kill off the whole royal family. But Jehosheba, daughter of King Jehoram and sister of Ahaziah, took Joash, his son, and spirited him away, along with his nurse, from the bedroom where the princes were about to be slain. She concealed him from Athaliah, and so he did not die. For six years he remained hidden in the temple of the LORD, while Athaliah ruled the land. But in the seventh year, Jehoiada summoned the captains of the Carians and of the guards. He had them come to him in the temple of the LORD, exacted from them a sworn commitment, and then showed them the king's son. The captains did just as Jehoiada the priest commanded. Each one with his men, both those going on duty for the sabbath and those going off duty that week, came to Jehoiada the priest. He gave the captains King David's spears and shields, which were in the temple of the LORD. And the guards, with drawn …Ve

Thu Jun 18, 2026 - 3:39 pm EDT (LifeSiteNews) – Bruce Sabalaskey is LifeSiteNews’s Web Development Engineer. This is the fourth part of his essay on Magnifica Humanitas and Artificial Intelligence. You can read Part Ihere,Part II there, and Part III here. Part IV: Ten Catholic Commandments for AI In Part I, I argued that Magnifica Humanitas (MH) correctly identifies many dangers of artificial intelligence. In Part II, I argued that MH’s proposed cure is deficient because it relies too heavily on dialogue, shared responsibility, institutional oversight, global management, and modern social-doctrine language while failing to ground the response clearly in Divine law, natural law, the Ten Commandments, and the salvation of souls. In Part III, I offered a proposal for what people of good will, using reason alone and natural law, could recognize about the proper use of AI and the restrictions that should be placed upon it. Now, in Part IV, I’ll be addressing Revelation. The natural …
Vice President JD Vance responds to those who define any criticism of Israel as anti-Semitic: “If everything is Jew-hatred, then nothing is Jew-hatred.”
“At ninety-three years of age, I don’t have enough time to clear my name of every vile falsehood that has been hurled against me in the public square. Yet I will always have time to defend the honour of the Church founded by Jesus Christ and her Sacraments, and I shall do so until the end of my life.” Just weeks before marking the 70th anniversary of his priestly ordination on July 8, a Portuguese Priest finds himself once again defending his reputation against false sexual abuse allegations that were archived by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith in 2023. After years of public accusations, restrictions on his ministry, relentless media vilification, and refusal to defend him by the Archdiocese of Braga, the priest has issued a public Right of Reply and announced legal action for defamation against the accusers. The case has gained renewed urgency as Grupo Vita (created by the Portuguese Episcopal Conference to respond to abuse allegations) prepares to meet Vatican officials …Ve
18.06.2026 Archbishop Lefebvre did not know before he was excommunicated by Cardinal Ratzinger, that LG 8, 14, 16, UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 etc in Vatican Council II, refer to invisible cases and so were not explicit exceptions for Tradition ( EENS, Syllabus etc).Vatican Council II was tradition. Let this sink in. Lefebvre did not know that Ad Gentes 7 (all need faith and baptism for salvation) was aligned with the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus (EENS) of the Council of Florence 1442.It did not mention any exception. While unknown cases of LG 8, 14, 16 etc, were not objective exceptions for AG 7 or EENS. The Council does not contradict an ecumenism of return of the Syllabus of Pius IX and the teaching on outside the Church there is no salvation, in the Catechism of Pope Pius X. Even Bishops Alfonso de Galaretta and Bishop Bernard Fellay when they were excommunicated the first time, along with Lefebvre, did not seem to know about this. They are not talking about this point as they prepare …Ve
