Caritas Delivers Lifesaving Response Amid New War
As war spreads across the Middle East following military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran on 28 February 2026, retaliatory violence is affecting several countries, with Lebanon experiencing immediate humanitarian consequences.
In the early hours of 2 March, exchanges of fire erupted along the Lebanon–Israel border, followed by extensive Israeli airstrikes in South Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Within hours, at least 52 people were killed and 154 were wounded. More than 32,000 people have been displaced nationwide, 56 villages evacuated, and 221 airstrikes recorded across Baalbek-Hermel, Bekaa, Nabatiyeh, Saida, and Tyre.
Entire families fled from the south, Bekaa, and Baalbek-Hermel toward Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and the north. Schools, public buildings, and community centres have been transformed into makeshift shelters.
Of the 191 shelters opened so far, 114 are already at or beyond …

Father Alfonso Avilés, one of two Ecuadorian priests who died while rescuing altar servers from drowning at sea, celebrated Mass in the Roman Rite. According to the Archdiocese of Guayaquil, Fr Avilés and Fr Pedro Anzoátegui rushed into the water during a Lenten parish activity in Playas, on Ecuador's Pacific coast, after two altar servers got into difficulty. Both teenagers survived, but both priests lost their lives in the rescue attempt.

Fr. Alfonso Avilés, who has passed away after saving the life of an altar boy, was drowning in the sea, Ecuador. He was as a defender of the Catholic Tradition, who lived his life in generous service to God and to souls. His final act reflects the charity he preached. He also regularly celebrated TLM. Once, a shepherd offended a man so deeply that the man decided to get revenge.
He knew the shepherd usually grazed his animals far from town, in a quiet, isolated area where hardly anyone passed by. So he came up with a plan: he would dig a deep pit there—one the shepherd would fall into.
Late at night, he grabbed a shovel and went out to the field.
As he dug, he imagined the moment his enemy would step into the trap—falling into the hole, breaking a leg, maybe even dying because he couldn’t climb out. And if it wasn’t the shepherd himself, maybe one of his animals—a cow, a sheep, or a goat—would fall in instead.
Driven by anger and the desire for revenge, he kept digging deeper and deeper. He became so consumed by his thoughts that he lost track of everything around him.
Only when the first light of dawn appeared did he finally pause.
Looking at the pit, he realized something shocking: the hole was so deep that if he climbed down into it himself, he wouldn’t be able to get out.

Scholasticism On The Cosmos

In Principio

Philosophical and Theological Synthesis
Article 3001 is not merely mathematical; it is metaphysically ambitious. It explicitly engages with the deepest classical questions:
What is the relationship between mathematics and reality?
Why does the universe obey numerical laws?
Why are certain constants privileged?
What is the origin of order and intelligibility?
________________________________________
29.1 Classical Metaphysical Streams
The article integrates several intellectual traditions:
• Christian Platonism (Augustine, Bonaventure)
• Scholastic metaphysics (Aquinas)
• Hildegardian cosmology
• Neopythagorean number-theology
• Logos theology (Prologue of John’s Gospel)
• Modern mathematical Platonism
The central insight:
Number precedes creation.

29.2 Augustine’s Doctrine of Eternal “Rationes”
Augustine taught:
The forms and numbers of all things exist eternally in the Mind of God.

Two Priests Die After Saving Altar Server in Ecuador

The Church in Ecuador is mourning the tragic loss of two priests who died after rescuing a young altar server from drowning in the sea.
The incident occurred on 13 March at the beach of General Villamil Playas, in the province of Guayas. A group of priests and altar servers had gathered there for a retreat when one of the young boys began to struggle in the water after being caught by strong waves.
Father Alfonso Avilés Pérez, parish priest of San Alberto Magno in Daule, immediately entered the sea to help the boy. Father Pedro Anzoátegui also rushed into the water to assist in the rescue. Thanks to their efforts, the altar server was saved.
However, the powerful current carried both priests away from the shore.
Father Alfonso Avilés died shortly after the incident, while Father Pedro Anzoátegui was initially reported missing. His body was recovered the following day.

A beach is not an appropriate place for a retreat, probably a spiritual one.

Very sad, and God bless the priests. BUT will the Church now want to canonize them? Not an idle question. A fine young lad tried to stop a school shooter in Colorado a few years ago and was killed -- now there is a movement to canonize him. A father in Virginia successfully saved the life of his Down Syndrome son but died in the process. His canonization has been suggested. All involved may be wonderful people and certainly acted heroically, but what exactly is a saint in the new Church?

Once upon a time in a quiet Midwestern farm town, there lived a man who constantly complained about the hand life had dealt him.
"Lord, why is my cross so heavy to bear?" he sighed every single day. "Everyone else seems to have it so easy, but my life is nothing but one hardship after another."
One night, he fell into a deep sleep and had a vivid dream. He found himself standing in a massive, brightly lit warehouse. All around him were crosses of every imaginable shape, size, and material—massive ones, tiny ones, plain wood, and glittering gold.
An Angel stood beside him and said gently, "Go ahead and pick whichever cross you want. That one will be yours from now on."
The man was thrilled. He immediately walked over to a massive, solid gold cross—but it was so incredibly heavy he couldn't even lift it off the floor. Next, he tried a beautifully carved mahogany one, but its edges were sharp and dug painfully into his collarbone. Then he found a lightweight one, but it was so awkwardly …'Besdal

Everyone keep in mind Israel is a Soviet satellite and the Mossad is KGB 2.0! So this go to war plan has been in the making for decades and both "side" are the same axis of evil. Take sides with Holy Mother the Church and prepare for your martyrdom!

Voices of MAGA: From support to open rebellion
The protest of key figures within MAGA has been particularly striking. Tucker Carlson, a well-known supporter of isolationism, expressed outrage during an ABC News interview on March 1, declaring the attacks on Iran “Absolutely disgusting and evil.” In a podcast, he added, “This is not America’s war. This is Netanyahu’s war that’s being forced upon us… We promised America First, and instead got endless wars fought for the interests of others.”

‘We voted for walls, not wars’: Did strikes on Iran just break MAGA?

The night of February 28-March 1, 2026, will be remembered by all those who followed the news in real time. At 1:15 AM EST, seated in the White House Situation Room, US President Donald Trump said, “Operation Epic Fury is approved. No aborts. Good luck.”
Those nine words signaled the launch of the largest US-Israeli military operation in decades. F-35 fighters, B-2 bombers, cruise missiles launched from ships in the Persian Gulf, and drones struck over 3,000 targets in Tehran, Natanz, Fordow, and other locations in Iran. The mission was to eradicate what remained of Iran’s nuclear program, dismantle the command structure of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and as Trump later confirmed in a video address from Mar-a-Lago, “eliminate imminent threats” to the US from the Iranian leadership.
However, within hours, the situation changed. Iranian state television announced that “Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has fallen a martyr due to the aggression of the Zionist and American …
